Economic justice through anti‑racist systems change.

01 Why / Mission

The economy was built with exclusion in its design. We build it differently.

The Social Equity Empowerment Network (SEEN) NY is a nonprofit organization dedicated to economic justice through anti-racist systems change.

We empower Black and Afro-Latinx communities to use cooperative economics in New York State's cannabis industry.

02 Programs

What we do

Cooperative Cannabis Incubator

A 12–16 month, high-touch incubator to build a worker-owned cannabis processing cooperative, from business planning and loan readiness to democratic governance, ending in a non-extractive business loan from Urban Upbound Credit Union.

Technical Assistance

Supporting people from communities disproportionately impacted by cannabis prohibition as they prepare New York State license applications and form cooperatives.

Advocacy & Community Engagement

Advocating for policy that puts communities disproportionately impacted by cannabis prohibition first, building coalitions with like-minded organizations, and making sure those communities have access to economic restitution through cooperative ownership and entrepreneurship.

03 For Cannabis Businesses

Community Impact Plans that do real work.

Every licensed adult-use cannabis business in New York must submit a Community Impact Plan when it renews its license. We help operators build a plan that produces real, tangible impact, and when needed, we help carry it out.

Every plan is rooted in the communities disproportionately impacted by cannabis prohibition, so your commitment turns into lasting benefit where it belongs.
